At Strabane Academy we are absolutely delighted with the GCSE results achieved by our students. Our very pleasing A levels results have been supported by these impressive GCSE results in terms of adding value to the students and their achievements, with the majority of our pupils obtaining 5 or more GCSE’s at A* – C.
- Within our Grammar stream; 98% of all pupils achieved 5 or more A*-C grades at GCSE and 98% achieved 5 or more A*-C grades including English and Maths.
- As a year group, which reflect a wide ability range, 83% achieved 5 or more GCSE grades at A*-C and 66% 5 or more grades at A*-C including English and Maths. This compares very favourably with similar all-ability schools in Northern Ireland.
Our curriculum provides the opportunity for students to opt to study in one of three pathways. Tops performers include:
In the Dennett Pathway, which consists of traditional Grammar subjects, the top performing girl was Anna Forbes with 9 A* grades and an A grade and the top performing boy was Stephen Browne with 5 A* grades and 5 A grades. Other top achievers included; Alice Sayers, Rhianna Darragh, Finn Hampton, James Aston McCrory and Emma Gamble.
In the Finn Pathway, which contains a mix of academic and vocational subjects, our top performing students included, Emma Britton, Megan Hart, Jordan Dixon and Jack Killen while in our Mourne Pathway, which is mainly vocational, our top performers were Jessica Colhoun, Hayden Bailey and Jamie Donaghey.
These results reflect the hard work of our students and highlight the dedication and support provided by our staff. Within our intake we have a wide range of individual needs and ability levels and we are extremely proud of each of our young people who have been encouraged and supported to achieve to their potential and beyond.
