In Strabane Academy we value success through hard work and respect. My staff and pupils deserve a great deal of praise for all they have accomplished throughout the past two extremely difficult years and I, as Principal, am immensely proud of their achievements.
Our A level students continue to excel, with the majority gaining access to their chosen university courses. Today, marks a major step in their career pathway and I wish them every success and happiness as they embark on the next phase of their education or career.
As a school community we celebrate some outstanding individual successes at A Level. Remarkably 20% of students achieved all A*-A grades, this includes; Alvena Sharma who achieved A*A*AA, Emma Gamble A*A*A, Alice Sayers A*AA, Finn Hampton A*AA, Jacob Wood A*AA and Jason Henderson, Reuben Orr, Adam McKittrick and Isaac Coulter achieved AAA grades.
Also included were a number of high achievers who achieved AAB or better; Nikita Allen, Stephen Browne, Sarah Cochrane, Rhiannon Darragh, Fionn Devine, Laura Harpur, Ellie Hayes, Ella Hendly, Eve Kelly, Ethan McGettigan, Abbey-Lei McCafferty, Hannah Millar, Holly Milligan, Sarah Monteith, Amy Walker and Jade Walsh.
Overall, there was a 100% pass rate across all subject areas with 86% of pupils achieving the benchmark 3 or more A*-C grades.
These are a fantastic set of results for the class of 2021, a group of students who have been a pleasure to have in our school throughout their education. As a staff, it has been a privilege to watch them grow and to support and encourage each young person towards this success.
We are very proud of the rich diversity of our students and recognise that whilst not every pupil can achieve A* or A grades, our positive ethos of ASPIRE, ensures that every student is given the opportunity to achieve above and beyond what they or others may believe they are capable off. We value the achievements of all our staff and students who have worked tirelessly over the last number of years and we are delighted to celebrate their success today.
